This groundbreaking initiative is aimed at transforming emergency shelter services across Canada to better uphold the rights of women and gender-diverse people.
Emergency shelters play a critical role in providing immediate support, but they are often overwhelmed and under-resourced. In response to this, the National Right to Housing Network, in partnership with the Women’s National Housing and Homelessness Network (WNHHN), and the Canadian Centre for Housing Rights (CCHR), alongside others developed these standards to offer a roadmap for shelters to adopt policies and practices that uphold the right to housing and improve outcomes for women and gender-diverse individuals.
