The Government of Canada is committed to strengthening the middle class and helping low-income Canadians exit poverty so that they have sufficient capabilities to be well and do well. To achieve this goal, we will need to form partnerships, modernize the existing landscape of supports and encourage sustainable, inclusive economic growth—growth that creates opportunities for all to participate in, and benefit from, our success. To help inform the Poverty Reduction Strategy, the Government of Canada will also be conducting extensive case studies in six communities as part of its Tackling Poverty Together Project, allowing the Government to hear directly from Canadians living in poverty and learn from organizations that deliver poverty reduction programs.
