Momentum is a Calgary-based community organization that works with people living on low incomes and partners in the community to create a thriving local economy for all. For over 20 years, Momentum has offered matched savings programs that build financial stability by working with participants to earn savings while learning about money management. Matching funds act as a power boost to the participants’ own savings, allowing them to purchase productive assets to move their lives forward.
An evaluation demonstrated that graduates of Momentum’s matched savings programs build regular savings habits and continue to save after the program.

Momentum has decided to discontinue the Savings Challenge with QUBER in 2024. With the closure of the Savings Challenge, Momentum is planning to launch new Financial Empowerment programming in 2024 to support people living on low incomes to file their taxes and receive income boosting benefits.
