An important part of program design is determining how to assess the program’s effects on the clients and their community. Typically, we assess program effectiveness by measuring the changes in outcomes—the changes in the conditions of your clients, their families and their communities—that occur due to participation in your program. Outcomes are best identified during the program design phase and kept in mind throughout the design and implementation processes. They provide the basis for measuring the program’s success in achieving its mission.
