In this report, we look at poverty as measured by income. But poverty is not only felt materially. It can create barriers to social inclusion, positive well-being, and a sustainable livelihood. Municipal, provincial, and federal governments have a key role to play in creating policies that ensure no one in Canada is poor. Everyone should have access to an adequate income and the resources necessary for well‐being, even when they are not able to secure all they need through paid work. Everyone suffers when some experience marginalization, insecurity, and social exclusion.
